Disa Bobbitt on 1830 Carroll Co., TN census. In the late 1830's (John?) Bobbitt, a surveyor for the U.S. apparently
died or was killed as they traveled or before they left TN for Poinsett Co., AR. with the Cooks, Cardwells, and Burrows.
Later located in Greene, now Craighead Co., AR, first settling at Bolivar then Crowley's Ridge and later to New Hope
on what later became the J.H. Carney farm, 7 miles NW of Jonesboro. Poinsett Co., Genealogy
Lydia Bobbitt was on the 1840 Poinsett Co., Census, age 50 with 4 other females & 3 males.
On February 19, 1859 Craighead County was formed out of parts of Greene, Mississippi, and Poinsett Co. counties & the
Poinsett Co., Line was moved 6 miles south.

When formed in 1837 Big Creek Township included several small settlements, consisting of Trinity,
Union Grove, Fifty-Six, and Paul’s Switch. Bono, originally named Bonnerville, was established in
the Big Creek Township, a community formed in Greene Co., before Craighead Co., was formed in 1859.
After the Kansas City, Fort Scott & Memphis Railroad constructeded a train stop near Big Creek,
it became an important business center.
