| Was started near the St. Louis,
Iron Mountain & Southern RR in 1878. Most of the people who moved into Bald Knob were
from Stevens Creek originally (near there). At one time there was a huge outcrop of rock
that the town was named for, but that was quarried out so none of the town's namesake
remains. Bald
Knob was once the Strawberry Capital of the World. In 1891, Benjamin Franklin Bobbitt of Bobbittville (now Dyer), TN who was an expert in the raising of strawberries invented an apparatus for making strawberry baskets that greatly improved the packing and shipping of fresh strawberries. |

start a business.
To this end, Strickland said the city leaders are making plans to
establish scholarships and special loans for aspiring business people as incentive for
them to stay.
