Martin S. LEDBETTER and his wife, Eliza McKinley LEDBETTER, had at least ten children.
Five of those were: James Baty, Mary, Jesse M., William H. and Martin S., Jr. Martin and Eliza both died in 1847, leaving minor children.
Does anyone have guardianship records for any of the children of Martin and Eliza?
Martin was the son of William and Anna STANLEY LEDBETTER. James Baty LEDBETTER married Caroline BAIN in 1847 in Bedford Co.
Mary went to Alabama to live with her aunt, Edna LEDBETTER FORREST;
Jesse M. lived with his uncle, Jesse M. LEDBETTER in Bedford Co., TN;
William H. went to live with his uncle, James Madison LEDBETTER in Tippah Co., MS; and Martin S. went to live with his aunt,
Winniford LEDBETTER JONES in Tippah Co., MS.
Any information on these folks would be appreciated. I would also like to make contact with any descendants of these folks. Thanks

I checked out this website,  but I am afraid there is a good deal of confusion about the Orange Co, NC Forrests.
The James Forrest, born 1749 in Chester Co., Pa., was the son of John Forrest and there are numerous local records in
Orange Co., plus the Family Bible, to prove it.  William Forrest who married Miss Gresham was of a different family--apparently
from Virginia rather than Pennsylvania.  The two families did not live near one another nor associate.
There is a tradition among the John Forrest descendants of a kinship,  but I have concluded that it probably came about due to
having Orange Co as a common heritage.  Curiously,  most other Southern Forrests carry the same tradition.

Hello,

My name is Gene Forrest, and I am listed on your website as a descendent of George Forrest of Martin Co., NC, who was in the 1790 Federal census.
Near the top of the website is a mention of a North and a South Forrest cemeteries near Brownsville, TN.
The north cemetery was on the farm where I grew up.

There were two family Bibles that were passed down through my ancestors that had birth/death information on the Forrest's.
One was called the Brown family Bible and the other was called the Forrest family Bible.  I have the Brown family Bible in my possession.
From these Bibles and from oral history, we have known all along that we were descended from George and Wineford Forrest
I am pretty certain that Wineford was the daughter of Thomas Joiner of Halifax County, but we have no idea at all who George's parents were.
George may have been connected to some Forrest's in Greene Co., NC, who were living one county over from George, but that is speculation.

You speculate that George may have been the son of John Forrest of Orange Co., NC.  Do you have a reason for thinking this?
It is certainly an intriguing line of thought.

At some point, you must have come across a booklet on the Forrest's prepared by Euel Forrest.
Euel has a son named Jack Forrest that is interested in the Forrest genealogy.
He and I are the only two Forrest's that I am acquainted with who have an interest.

I would  be glad to share what information I have with you, and would be glad to learn what information you might have that I don't.

I hope to hear from you.  My email address is gene_forrest@hotmail.com.

Thanks, and I appreciate your website.

Subject: FORREST, BROWN, BRILEY, ETC

Hello,

I have just visited the website and was amazed at the information you have on the Forrest Families, as well as Briley's and others.
As a Briley, I have a lot of information that you don't have and would be glad to share what I have.
In addition, I have much knowledge on the Forrests, Browns, and others.
I have recently been to both of the Forrest cemeteries in Haywood and Madison counties.
My problem, however, is that I can only trace the Briley's back to John Briley who married Elizabeth Forrest
My tree back from there is only speculation and I need some help.
Let me know how I can update your information.  I look forward to hearing from you.
FYI,  John Briley and Elizabeth Forrest were my gg-grandparents.

Pat Briley
Washington, DC.
