Black History and SAPP Programs
The Black History Awareness Committee of the St. Mary
Assistance and Prevention Program (SAPP) will
present the following events during the weekend of Feb. 17 and 18.
Friday 17th at 6:00 p.m. - Opening Reception at the Carmichael Center
Speake, Attorney J. Leon Johnson of Little Rock, former
acting State Attorney General of Arkansas
Saturday 11:00 p.m. - Parade starting at 11:00 a.m. corner of West Academy
and Gum Street
with a fellowship at the end of the parade in Spring Park
Grand Marshall of the parade will be Mrs. Evelyn Green, a
retired educator and recent recipient of the Hall of Honor
presented but the Searcy Public Schools Education Foundation.
Saturday 6:00 p.m. - Concert by the World Renowned Philander Smith Collegiate
Choir
Held at the First United Methodist Church. The choir is under
the direction of Broadway actor and performer,
Lawrence Hamilton and assisted by Adrian Maclin with
accompanists, Stratsmere Pavlov and Dr. Phyllis Ruocco.
Refreshments and admission to all events are free and the public is invited.
