I'm looking for a Simon Bobbitt (probably changed from Babbitt)
who was born in Indiana in Feb 1853.
He married Henrietta or Harriet C. Morgan, also born in IN. They later moved to Troy, MO,
where they had ten children:
Dora (Linderman), Lillie, Walter, Herline, twins Elmer and Emory, William, Minnie,
Georgia, and John.

My husband is Lillian's grandson. There are two more children, Raymond and John.
We have Harriet on Lillian's death certificate. Informant being William C. Harris,
Lillian's husband.
Harriet is also used on the 1880 and 1910 census. I find a L for Simon's Bobbitt's
middle name on the 1860 census.
William L. Bobbitt is the father. 1870 was terrible to read.
Wondering if you have any old pictures? I have a few, think they are Bobbitts. Need to be
compared with someone elses.

J.A. BOBBITT, postmaster at Sigel, was born October 9, 1831, in
Kentucky, and when about twelve years of age his parents emigrated to
Macon county, MO where they remained for a short time; then moved to
Howard county, remaining there but a short time; then came to Johnson.
The subject of this sketch has lived in this county ever since, except one year that he
lived in Platte county.
He was married, March 19, 1854, to Miss Nancy Ferguson.
Mr. B. is a man of continued industry, and now, as a reward he owns a fine farm of 240
acres, all under cultivation, and a fine residence in Sigel.
He was appointed postmaster in 1879, and has since held the office with credit to himself
and satisfaction to the people.
He is an active member of the Christian church, and is numbered among the successful
business men of Johnson county.

My grandfather Chester T.Babbitt who lived in St.Joseph, MO most of his life had a brother, Loren Babbitt
who lived in Albuquerque,NM in the 1950'-60's.
Loren had a daughter or granddaughter named Lorna, we were penpals in the 60's, but we
lost touch with each other after a few years.
Could the Loren I'm speaking of be your greatuncle who is buried in Texas? I can't
remember the names of his other children

Loren Whitney Babbitt married Elmira Cabtle in 1827. To them a son was born Loren
Lamoni Babbitt 1835 in Kirtland OH.
In 1864 Loren L. married Mary Petty(1846-1925)and they had 3 sons born in Brown County
Illinois. Don Carlos Babbitt born 1865
and died there 1866; George Opha Babbitt b. 10/23/1866; Almon J.
Babbitt b.12/28/1868. They moved to Maysville, Mo.
around 1870.

Chester Thomas Babbitt was my grandfather. He had at least 2 sisters
Marie, and Lettie.
I don't know of any brothers. Marie married Emmett Berry and Lettie married Bert Rice they
all lived in Maysville, Mo. while
Chester married Ruby Evelyn Newman and they lived in St. Joseph, Mo.
I don't know where they were born.
I thought someone in the family said they came from Oklahoma but that could be wrong.

I'm looking for information on George Opha Babbitt who married Matilda ?
in the late 1800's. they had 3 daughters Opal, Lettie, Marie and
1 son Chester Thomas Babbitt all were born in Maysville Mo. in the late 1800's & early 1900's. they lived in
Oklahoma between 1905 & 1920
before returning to Maysville, Mo. where they remained
until death.
